Meridian

What it is: A native macOS desktop runtime for crew work. Meridian is where the captain dispatches specialists with slash commands, watches their output stream in real time, and intervenes when the situation calls for it. Built on Tauri v2 — Rust core, system WebKit, ~5MB binary.

Built for: Operators running multi-project, multi-repo crew sessions who need a local cockpit for deep work, paired with a cloud control surface (Luna) for command from phone, voice, or a brief laptop session.

Why it matters: Most AI tooling assumes a single chat-with-the-bot frame. Crew work needs a runtime: paired threads, streaming output, structured dispatch, offline-tolerant queueing, and a clean reconnect story. Meridian is that runtime.

The Quiet Ocean

What it is: An interactive 6-minute brief on the underwater Internet of Things — a global acoustic network being finalized by ISO/IEC that would transmit data through the ocean at 160–250 dB. The brief models the network's range and impact, then makes the case for a quieter, fiber-first alternative.

Built for: The Quiet Ocean Standards Initiative (QOSI), operating under U.S. 501(c)(3) Safe Smart Oceans. QOSI's founder, Dr. Kathy Matara, is Convener of Working Group 7 under ISO/IEC SC41 — the standards body writing the technical specifications. The brief gives funders, policy partners, and standards-body members a clear public-facing case.

Mālama's role: Designed and built the interactive brief pro bono. Lean static site on Cloudflare Pages with custom Web Audio synthesis, live decibel/range modeling, and a scroll-driven narrative for non-specialists.
